オーストラリア知的財産庁（IP Australia）は、新興の暗号技術に基づいたバーチャルグッズ、メタバース、代替不可能なトークン (NFT)、ブロックチェーンに関する商品・役務の記載についてのガイドラインを示しています。たとえば、第９類の仮想商品または非代替トークン (NFT) のみの請求は、さらなる説明がなければ受け入れられす、 出願人は仮想商品または NFT の正確な性質を指定する必要があります。代替不可能なトークン (NFT) によって認証されたダウンロード可能な仮想衣類及びデジタル音楽ファイル（downloadable virtual clothing and downloadable digital music files authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs)）は受け入れられます。また、たとえば、オンライン環境に表示される仮想レストランでは、アバターが仮想の食べ物を消費するため、物理的な食べ物は提供されません。 したがって、このサービスは、第43類のレストランサービス (restaurant service）ではなく、エンターテイメントサービス (an entertainment service) として第41類に分類されます。
