Cuba joins TMview and DesignView

The Cuban Office of Industrial Property (OCPI) made its trade mark and design data available to the TMview and DesignView search tools on 9 December 2019.TMview now contains data from 72 participating offices, and DesignView contains data from 71 participating offices.With the addition of more than 50,000 trade marks from OCPI, TMview provides information and access to more than 55.7 million trade marks in total. DesignView contains more than 14.8 million designs, including almost 1,400 designs from OCPI.

As of 04 November 2019, the National Institute of Industrial Property of Argentina (INPI) joined TMclass, and will use and accept the list of terms from the harmonised database (HDB) within the tool.In addition, the National Institute for the Defense of Free Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property of Peru (INDECOPI) has joined DesignClass and will use and accept the list of terms from the harmonised database of product indications (HDBPI).

An improved beta version of TMview (https://www.euipn.org/tmview/beta/) is now available alongside the original interface, as part of a planned improvement to the world’s biggest free trade mark search engine.The improvements are a core part of EUIPO’s European Cooperation activity in the framework of its Strategic Plan 2020, and have been developed in collaboration with the national and regional intellectual property offices of the EU.The interface has been completely redesigned after extensive user testing, allowing for a greatly enhanced navigation and search experience. In addition, the tool has a significantly improved search results display and categorisation system which allows results to be shown in order of relevance to the search terms.

The Cypriot Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver (CY DRCOR), with the support of the EUIPO’s European Cooperation Projects, has upgraded  its existing online services for trade marks.The new e-filing solution for trade marks became available on 15 July, bringing improved e-filing and online services for trade marks to Cypriot users. The project has been carried out with the support of different teams from the EUIPO and DRCOR.
