The Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP) is the official body for trademarks and designs registration in the Benelux. BOIP can also record the existence of an idea on a given date in an i-DEPOT.

識別力がある標章とは？
[コメント]元号についての注意喚起になりますが、元号（現元号であるか否かを問わない。）として認識されるにすぎない商標は、自他商品識別力がないため、商標登録を受けることはできません。また、単に元号と普通名称の組み合わせに過ぎない商標（例えば”平成まんじゅう”）も登録できないとしています。天皇陛下の退位に伴い元号の変更が予定されていますが、元号が変更する予定を見越して出願しても、原則、平成＋（普通名称）は登録できないというところです。このような場合は、ロゴ化することで識別性が作りだせる可能性があり、また、使用により顕著性があるものにすることも可能で、識別力があれば商標登録可能となります。元号に関する商標の取扱いについて
The London Taxi Company wanted to claim exclusive rights to the black cab shape and thwart a rival firm. But Lord Justice Kitchin and Lord Justice Floyd have upheld a ruling made last year by a high court judge. In January 2016, Mr Justice Arnold ruled that the shape was not a “valid registered trademark” after a high court hearing in London.
