The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) recently published notice that it intends to move forward with plans to increase trademark filing fees effective November 2024.
基本出願の出願手数料は 250 ドルから 350 ドルに増加します。不完全な申請の場合は追加 100 ドルです。USPTO の商標 ID マニュアルから事前に承認された識別を選択するのではなく、商品またはサービスのカスタム説明を使用する場合は、1 クラスあたり 200 ドルの追加になります。また過度に長いID（指定商品・指定役務の記載）の場合はクラスごとに 200 ドル (スペースと句読点を含む、最初の 1,000 文字を超える 1,000 文字の追加グループごと)
＊文字は語（word）ではなく、charactersの数です。trademarkは１語ですが、characterの数は９（スペースも入れると１０）です。適用となるベースは、1a, 1b 44, 66aですので、マドプロ経由の出願も1000 character ruleが適用されます。日本の類記載をそのまま翻訳して長いIDとなった場合は超過料金が凄いことになる可能性があります。11月の施行日よりも後の米国出願、米国指定の国際出願は指定商品・指定役務の記載の長さも気にする必要がありそうです。

Qatar is the 115th Member of the Madrid System.This accession further strengthens the Madrid System as a practical and efficient solution for protecting trademarks worldwide.National trademark holders in four – Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates – out of the six countries that make up the Gulf Cooperation Council can now use the Madrid System to secure cross-border protection of their brands.
