　中国企業（中山市飛湊電子科学技術有限公司）が、白老町の「白老牛」商標マークに酷似した図形商標を同国の中国国家知識産権局に登録申請した問題で、町の異議申し立てが棄却されたことが２６日の町議会全員協議会で報告された。町は白老牛の販路拡大に支障が出かねないとして昨年、申請を認めないよう中国側に申し立てたものの、認められなかった。商標登録の無効を訴える審判請求に関しても「勝算が見込めない」として断念した。
