General Motors (GM) is killing off the iconic Holden brand and pulling out of Australia and New Zealand, the latest in a series of moves to shrink the US carmaker’s global presence as it ramps up investments in electric and autonomous vehicles.The company announced Sunday that it would retire the Holden brand, which has existed in Australia for more than 160 years, by 2021. It will also shutter its sales, design and engineering operations in Australia and New Zealand.

県やＪＡ、主産地などでつくる「山形さくらんぼブランド力強化推進協議会」の本年度第1回会合が17日、山形市の県自治会館で開かれ、県が開発した大玉サクランボ新品種「山形Ｃ12号」のブランド化プロジェクトの概要が初めて示された。生産から販売までの方策をまとめた戦略プランを8月までに策定し、安定供給に向けた生産マニュアル作成に取り組む。

山形Ｃ１２号の果実は３Ｌ（直径２８ミリ以上）～４Ｌ（同３１ミリ以上）の大玉が中心で、県の開発品種としては最大とされます。糖度は２０度以上で、佐藤錦と並びますが、酸味はやや少なく、すっきりした甘さがあり、果肉は硬めで日持ちが良く、佐藤錦と紅秀峰の間の６月下旬～７月上旬に収穫されます。山形Ｃ１２号は紅秀峰と北米産のレーニア、紅さやかを交配した品種で１９９７年に育成を始めており、早ければ２０２２年ごろに一般販売が始まる見通しです。なお、ブランドの中心となる商標については、一般公募が予定されています。

ブランドコンサルティング大手の米インターブランドは25日、グローバルに展開する企業ブランド価値を2017年版ランキングを公表した。海外売上高比率が30％を超える「グローバルブランド」では、上位100ブランドの価値が昨年より4.2％増加し、総額１兆8717億ドルとなった。首位の米アップルと２位の米グーグルは５年連続で順位を維持した。日本ブランドの最上位はトヨタ自動車の「トヨタ」で７位、14年連続で自動車ブランドのトップとなった。
