本日（3月25日）、地理的表示法に基づき、農林水産省は、米良糸巻大根（宮崎県）、南関素麺（熊本県）、北海道米（北海道）、淡路島手延べそうめん（兵庫県）を新たに地理的表示（ＧＩ）として登録しましたので、お知らせします。なお、今回の登録により、日本国内のGI登録産品は167産品になりました。

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently registered to Grambling State University and its Tigers athletics program the “G” mark for apparel, merchandise, university athletic programs and related alumni, athlete and fan purposes. The USPTO did so only after Grambling State provided the school’s cooperation agreements with the Green Bay Packers and the University of Georgia, both of which have trademark registrations for similar looking “Gs”.

Korea’s top court ruled for the first time that tailoring services that alter luxury goods at an owner’s request for their personal use do not violate trademark law, but producing and selling those modified goods do.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce co-own 1587 Prime steakhouse in Kansas City, and they are now being sued by 1587 Sneakers for trademark infringement. 1587 Sneakers’ complaint over the steakhouse was authored by attorney Ezra Salami and filed in the Southern District of New York. It also includes claims for unfair trade practices and unfair competition. The shoe company is based in New York City and began selling sneakers and apparel in 2023, and it says its products “unapologetically honor our heritage.” Shirts include the “Rice Cake Tiger Shirt” and various “Bamboo” gym shirts. 1587 Sneakers has a line of sports-themed products dubbed the “Chang Capsule,” which features former U.S. tennis player Michael Chang.

Trump International Airport” as Florida lawmakers move toward renaming the Palm Beach airport in his honor. New filings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ‒ which Trump controls ‒ show that attorneys have also filed to trademark “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” and “DJT,” a reference to the president’s initials.
