In accordance with the memorandum of January 20, 2017, from the Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff, entitled “Regulatory Freeze Pending Review,” this action delays the effective date of that final rule 60 days from the date of the January 20, 2017 memo. The effective date of the January 19, 2017 final rule, which would have been February 17, 2017, is now March 21, 2017. The 60-day delay in the effective date is necessary to give agency officials the opportunity for further review of the issues of law and policy raised by the rule.

米国特許商標庁（USPTO）に商標登録として申請されたのは、「Trumpcare（トランプケア）」。その後も関連商標の登録が相次ぎ、いまドナルド・トランプ大統領が大人気です。なんとも皮肉な話ですが…。

USPTOのサイトで調査すると、確かにTRUMP関連が続々です。IVANKさんの自社ブランド強化のための出願もあります。いくつかの出願は反トランプのポリシーやスローガンをTｰshirt等で売るための商標確保と思われます。以前の投稿にも記載しましたが、TRUMPの先祖は”DRUMPF”でしたので、トランプ一族は苗字自体を時代に合わせた形に進化させているとも言えるでしょう。他人の商標の横取りは反社会的ですが、将来を予測して商標登録などの権利を確保することは重要なビジネス活動の１つです。
時事ドットコム 菊正宗酒造（神戸市）は２７日、日本酒の「カップ酒」の香りと瓶の手触りなどを米国で商標として登録申請したと発表した。カップ酒の輸出を始めるに当たり、香りなどを商標として保護する米国の制度を活用する。

写真を見ると、アルミ缶のようなイメージですが、香りと手触りに識別性があるということらしいので、違う素材なのでしょう。また、酒の香りに識別性ありということをを米国審査官に説明するのは、ひと苦労とは思います。

USPTOのウエブサイトによると、従前の”legacy” IDマニュアルは現役を退き、新たなID Manual Next Generation (ID Manual-NG), or Trademark Next Generation ID Manual (TMNG-IDM) が現役となります。従前のID manualの退役によって、ID Manualが死語となる訳でもなく、ID ManualはそのままID Manual-NGを指し示すようになります。User Interfaceも新しい画面に代わっております。
