世界的なブームとなっている「抹茶」ですが今、中国で生産や販売が急激に拡大しています。中には日本の抹茶の名産地・京都の「宇治」の名前を使って販売する業者もいて問題となっています。「抹茶」が世界的なブームとなっている中、今、日本のお茶農家の脅威となっているのが、中国産の抹茶です。近年、生産量が急増し去年は2500トン。今年は5000トンまで伸ばす予定で、1つの市（貴州省銅仁市）だけで去年の日本の国内生産量およそ6300トンに匹敵する勢いです。
