The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is the global forum for intellectual property (IP) services, policy, information and cooperation, and is a self-funding agency of the United Nations, with 193 member states.
On October 6, 2016, the Government of Brunei Darussalam deposited with the Director General of WIPO its instrument of accession to the Madrid Protocol for the International Registration of Marks. Its accession makes Brunei the 98th member of the Madrid System. The Protocol will enter into force with respect to Brunei Darussalam on January 6, 2017.
The Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO) has recently launched a kiosk for the general public to search for information on registered trademarks at the Business Support Center in Anggerek Desa.
