日本一の柑橘生産量を誇る愛媛県は１２日、県が育成した新品種の高級柑橘「愛媛４８号」の名称を「紅プリンセス」と名付け、商標登録を出願したと発表した。６年後の出荷を目指している。

「紅プリンセス」は、「紅まどんな」と「甘平」をかけ合わせて愛媛県が１４年かけて開発した新品種でゼリーのような食感と甘みの強さが特徴です。「紅プリンセス」は「かんきつ愛媛４８号」をブランド化した新たな高級柑橘であり、収獲の最盛期は３月中旬から４月ごろと遅いため、他の高級かんきつと差別化を図れると期待されています。
