Stone Brewing sues MillerCoors Over Stone Trademark
Stone Brewing has filed a lawsuit against Molson Coors Brewing Company subsidiary MillerCoors, which makes and markets the “Keystone” line of beers, alleging that the multinational company infringed on the San Diego craft brewery’s “Stone” trademark. According to the complaint, filed today in the U.S. district court of Southern California, Stone Brewing asserts that MillerCoors is purposely trying to “steal the consumer loyalty and awesome reputation of Stone’s craft brews” with its recently rebranded Keys
Apple Corps, the owner of the trademarks of the Fab Four, has filed a $100 million lawsuit against 50 online vendors for allegedly selling merchandise with its “Beatles” and “Yellow Submarine” trademarks without permission. The suit hopes to get back $2 million from each company.
By the 30th, the Japan Patent Office has decided to register farmed eel, a specialty of Lake Hamana, as a regional collective trademark, Lake Hamana Eel. The trademark is managed by the Hamanako Fish Farming Cooperative Association (Nishi Ward, Hamamatsu City), which oversees the eel farming industry in the Hamanako area (Hamamatsu, Kosai City), and can be used by local restaurants.
